Engineering failure analysis is the process of collecting and analyzing data to determine the cause of a failure. It requires knowledge about how products fail, an understanding of the effects of various forms of energy on materials used in the manufacturing of the product, and insight into the physical  properties of those materials. The scientific method is used to systematically analyze the data, develop hypotheses, test each hypothesis, and arrive at a logical conclusion.

At Beard Forensic Engineering Services, we have analyzed hundreds of failures of many different types of systems, including:

  • Switchgear and Busways
  • Transformers
  • Furnaces
  • Chillers and HVAC systems
  • Batteries
  • Communications Equipment
  • Electrical Cables
  • Diesel Generators
  • Residential wiring
  • Garage Doors and Gates
  • Appliances
  • Vehicle Electrical Systems
